Freeman’s practice areas include general civil litigation, business formation and transactions, and estate planning.

Freeman’s litigation experience is diverse, and he has earned victories for clients on both sides of the aisle. He has represented:

• property owners in property rights and land-use disputes,
• individuals in Limited Liability Company member disputes,
• business entities in a variety of business tort and breach of contract disputes,
• property owners in boundary line disputes,
• contractors and homeowners in construction defect cases, and
• individuals and insurance companies in claims disputes.

Freeman’s business formation and transactions practice allows him to advise business owners on how to structure their businesses to minimize the impact of costly litigation, or avoid it altogether, by

• selecting the appropriate business form, including assisting in the formation of Limited Liability Companies, S Corporations, Statutory Close Corporations, and C Corporations,
• advising I.R.C. § 501(c)(3) Nonprofits,
• reviewing contracts,
• drafting Operating Agreements for members of Limited Liability Companies,
• drafting standard business forms for use in the ordinary course of business, and
• negotiating business debt workout plans and sale of business transactions.

Freeman’s estate planning experience includes

• drafting a variety of Wills and Trusts Agreements,
• preparing Durable Powers of Attorney, HealthCare Powers of Attorney, and Living Wills, and
• drafting Conservation Easements and Family Limited Partnership Agreements for the preservation large tracts of undeveloped land.

Freeman is civically active as a Board Member of the Midlands Chapter of the National Football Foundation, the Young Contemporaries of the Columbia Museum of Art, and the Columbia Kiwanis Club. He is also a member of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of the Leadership Columbia Class of 2007.

Freeman is a Columbia native and is the fourth generation of his family to practice law in Columbia, joining his great-grandfather Irvine, grandfather Heyward, and father Clinch. He graduated from Davidson College with a degree in History and the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is married to Maryanne Warner Belser, a native of Nashville, Tennessee.
